Japan’s men’s volleyball team is ready for the Asian Championships.
The 2023 Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship will be held in Urmia, Iran from November 19-26. Japan’s men’s volleyball team will head to the tournament with its strongest squad yet.토토사이트
Prior to the Asian Championships, Japan held a training camp in Turkiye from November 11-15. During that time, they played practice matches against the national teams of Turkiye and Egypt. Both teams were focused on improving their game before the European and African Championships, respectively.
Japan fell 1-3 (25-15, 21-25, 18-25, 18-25) in the practice match against Turkiye. The Japanese were unable to stop the onslaught of Turkiye’s ace Addis Lagumzija. Lagumzija scored 23 points on her own. Japan was led by Nishida, Ishikawa, and Takahashi, but came up short.
Japan, led by Philippe Blanc, won the bronze medal at the FIVB Volleyball Nations League (VNL), which concluded in July. They became the only Asian team to win a medal in the VNL, which began in 2018.
Following the Asian Championships, the men’s volleyball qualifiers for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be held from September 30 to October 8. A total of 24 teams will compete in groups A through C. The top two teams in each group will qualify for Paris. The top two teams in each group will qualify for Paris. In Group B, Japan will be looking to secure their place at home. A total of 18 teams will compete in the 22nd edition of the Asian Championship this year. Japan has been drawn in Group B with Uzbekistan and Thailand. The top two teams from each of the six groups will advance to the round of 12. Two of the round of 12 winners will advance directly to the quarterfinals, while four teams will play one more match and only the two winners will join the quarterfinals.
South Korea, coached by Lim Do-heon, will face Pakistan and Bangladesh in Group F. The team traveled to Iran via Incheon International Airport on Nov. 16.
The team took a short break after the 2023 Asian Volleyball Confederation Challenge Cup and reconvened at Jincheon Athletes’ Village on July 18 for about four weeks of training. Setters Hwang Seung-bin (KB Insurance) and Na Kyung-bok (Ministry of Defense), libero Lee Sang-wook (Samsung Fire), middle blocker Kim Kyu-min (Korean Air), and outside hitter Jeon Kwang-in (Hyundai Capital) are the newcomers. Setter Hwang Taek-ui (Armed Forces Athletic Corps), libero Park Kyung-min (Hyundai Capital), middle blockers Kim Min-jae (Korean Air) and Lee Sang-hyun (Woori Card), outside hitters Jeong Ji-seok and Jeong Jeong-yong (Korean Air), outside hitter Lim Sung-jin (KEPCO), and apositives Heo Su-bong (Hyundai Capital) and Lim Dong-hyuk (Korean Air) departed.
Japan is the most decorated team in the Asian Championship. Japan has won the title nine times. It will be its first title in six years since 2017. South Korea and Iran are tied with four titles apiece. South Korea won the Asian crown in 1989, 1993, 2001, and 2003. It will be their first title in 20 years.
