Ansan City Government won its first title in the women’s flechette team event at the 28th Kim Chang-hwan National Men’s and Women’s Fencing Championships for the second consecutive season.
Led by coaches Lee Hyun-soo and Choi Myung-jin, the Ansan City Government teamed up with Lee Chae-hee, Kim Hye-ji, Choi Min-seo, and Hong Sena to defeat university powerhouse Korea Gymnastics University 41-37 in the final of the women’s fleuré event on the third day of the tournament at the Iksan Indoor Gymnasium in Jeollabuk-do.메이저사이트
With this victory, Ansan City Hall emerged as the “emerging powerhouse” of women’s fleur de lis after winning back-to-back titles at the Employers’ Federation President’s Cup in April.
Ansan City Hall defeated Woosuk University 44-43 in the round of 16, Incheon Jung-gu Office 45-33 in the quarterfinals, Seokjeong Urban Development 38-33 in the semifinals to reach the quarterfinals, and met Korea Gymnastics, which defeated Seongnam City Hall 44-35 in the semifinals.
In the finals, Ansan City Hall got off to a shaky start, dropping the first round 2-5, but turned things around in the second round when Kim Hye-ji scored seven points against Park Ji-hee and only gave up four to tie the score at 9-9.
Ansan City Hall then took the lead in the third game when Lee Chae-hee out-scored Kim Na-yoon 6-3 to take a 15-12 lead, and then took control in the fifth and sixth games when Choi Min-seo and Lee Chae-hee scored four points apiece to overwhelm Korea Gymnastics University’s Lee Ah-lin and Shim So-eun to take a 23-17 lead.
Ansan City Hall allowed its opponent to catch up in the seventh round, but Choi Min-seo unleashed an onslaught on Kim Na-yoon in the eighth round to virtually book the victory with a 38-28, 10-point lead, before Shim So-eun scored nine points in the final round to pull within four points of the chasing KU.
“Despite national team member Hong Sena not competing due to an ankle injury, rookie Lee Chae-hee did unexpectedly well, and captain Kim Hye-ji and Choi Min-seo, who won bronze in the individual event, shared the win with good teamwork,” said Ansan National Gymnastics Center head coach Lee Hyun-soo. “We will do our best to perform well at the upcoming national championships.”
Meanwhile, the previous day’s men’s individual foil final saw Kim Dong-soo (Gwangju City Hall, Gyeonggi-do) win the gold medal after defeating Yoon Jung-hyun (Korea Gymnastics University) 15-12 in the final. Kim had previously defeated Lim Hye-sung (Hankuk University of International Studies) 15-11 in the round of 16, Kwak Jun-hyuk (Daejeon City Corporation) 15-14 in the quarterfinals, and Choi Dong-yoon (Busan University of Foreign Studies) 15-11 in the semifinals.
On the other hand, Lim Seung-min (Seongnam City Hall), an individual in the women’s fleur de lis, defeated Kim Sol-min (Korea Gymnastics University) 15-14 in the quarterfinals and Kim Hye-ji (Ansan City Hall) 15-7 in the semifinals, but lost to Hong Seo-in (Seoul Metropolitan Government) 4-12 to finish as the runner-up, while Gwangju City Hall won the silver medal in the men’s team event.
