Now that the Texas Rangers have clinched a World Series berth, manager Tony Beasley sent a message of support to a former student playing fall ball across the Pacific.
Beasley spoke to MK Sports after the Rangers clinched a spot in the World Series with an 11-4 victory over the Houston Astros in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas, on Thursday.
“It feels really good,” he said. “The last six years have been really tough for us. We went through a rebuild, we had a losing season, we had the pandemic, everything was tough,” he said, reflecting on the past.
Beasley, who took over as Texas coach in 2015, has seen the team’s moments of glory and humiliation.
After reaching the postseason in back-to-back years in 2015 and 2016, the Texans went through a dark period. In 2021, the team suffered 102 losses. In 2022, head coach Chris Woodward was fired and Beasley finished the season as interim head coach.
“We’ve been trying to build a good team since then. The ownership group has invested aggressively. They brought in everything we needed. Coach Bochy is a real pendulum,” he said of the transformed team.
With the addition of Marcus Simien and Corey Seager, Texas has a framework at the top of the order, but this season, the Rangers have added veteran starters in Jacob deGrom, Nathan Eovaldi, and Jordan Montgomery. DeGrom was lost to injury early in the season, but they brought back Max Scherzer.메이저사이트
“We’ve been playing for this (World Series), we’ve been coaching for this, we’ve been playing for this, we’ve been coaching for this,” Beasley said. Now we have a chance to win a World Series,” Beasley said.
“He’s a guy who knows what he’s doing,” he said of Bochy’s presence.
“He knows when to pull a pitcher, who to pinch hit for, etc. He has a tremendous feel for the game. He’s a smart guy. He’s confident in what he’s doing because he’s been in this situation before. He leads the coaching staff with that same confidence,” said Bochy.
Beasley was also surprised to hear that Shin-soo Choo, who played with him in Texas from 2015 to 2020, was playing in the KBO postseason.
Beasley asked him to send a message of support to Shin-Soo Choo, who was in the same boat as him with a powerful message.
