Hwang “Bull” Hee-chan, who has been in peak form of late, said he was happy to get both a result and a performance in Singapore.
The South Korean national soccer team, led by Jürgen Klinsmann, cruised to a 5-0 victory over Singapore in Group C, Round 1 of the 2026 FIFA North American Football Championship Asia Second Qualifying Round, scheduled for 8 p.m. on Saturday at the Seoul World Cup Stadium. South Korea scored consecutive goals from Cho Kyu-sung in the 44th minute, Hwang Hee-chan in the fourth minute, Son Heung-min in the 17th minute, Hwang Eui-jo in the 22nd minute and Lee Kang-in in the 39th minute to overwhelm Singapore and secure the win.
After the game, Hwang Hee-chan was pleased with his team’s ability to break through their opponents’ strong defense in the mix zone. “Our opponent came down from the first half, so we had to play a lot. We switched positions often and tried to create goals. It was a bit frustrating that we didn’t score, but we finished the first half well,” said Hwang, reflecting on the first half in which they faced strong resistance. 무지개토토 주소
“In the second half, I could see that they were getting tired, so I tried to create more goals. We got a good result today, which gave a lot of players confidence. I think we gave the fans a good game,” he said of the win over Singapore.
He was also pleased that his header helped seal the win. “I knew it was coming before the game,” Hwang said, “and I told the players to stay calm. That’s why we were able to score the second goal. “When we play against Asian teams, our goal is to get both a performance and a result, and I’m personally happy that we were able to do that today. We will continue to prepare well,” he said proudly.
Hwang Hee-chan, meanwhile, credited his longtime teammates like Son Heung-min for his recent goals. “We told each other that if (Son) Heung-min coordinates well with the players, not just his brother, he will score goals. It’s been a long time since he’s played with the current players, so I think there’s a synergistic effect.”
