The English Premier League (EPL)’s leading goalscorer, “monster” striker Elling Holland (Manchester City), has been called up to the Norwegian national team.

The Norwegian Football Association announced on Monday (Nov. 18) that Holland has been withdrawn from the national team due to an ankle injury.

Holland came on as a substitute at the start of the second half of Norway’s 2-0 win over the Faroe Islands in Oslo, Norway, on Sunday and played 45 minutes.

But later that day, he reportedly injured his ankle. “It’s not a serious injury, but there is a lot of pain and restriction of movement,” said Norway’s team doctor Ola Sand, adding that “after consultation with head coach Stole Solvaken, it was decided (that he should come off).”

Norway will face Scotland at 4:45 a.m. on Tuesday in their final Euro 2024 qualifier. Norway has already been eliminated, so it doesn’t really matter. Solbakken has decided not to name a replacement for Holland. 보스토토 도메인

The problem is his club, City. Currently leading the EPL with 28 points, they are just one point behind second-place Liverpool (27 points) and will face the Reds after the international break. City will be monitoring the extent of Holland’s injury.

Holland was a monster last season, scoring 52 goals (nine assists) in 53 official games. He was a key contributor to City’s triple treble. This season, he continues to lead the team in scoring with 13 goals in 12 league games and has four goals in the UEFA Champions League.
